SARI Part M & Part 145 Implementation Visit in Maldives

A 5-day on-site activity took place between the 21st and 25th of May 2023 at Maldives CAA (CAAM) premises. The main objective was to evaluate the compliance of CAAM regulations with SARI regulations in Part M (Continuing Airworthiness Management) & Part 145 (Approved Maintenance Organizations), and the assessment of their implementation in the field taking two examples of operators in the industry, IASL and Manta Air.

 

The Implementation Visit aimed to achieve the following:

  • To review the status of implementation of CAAM Part M on Management of Continuing Airworthiness and Part 145 on Approved Maintenance Organisations, through questions, interviews, and review of Part M & Part 145 Section B checklists.

  • To identify the main issues faced by CAAM concerning implementing SARI Part-M and Part-145.

  • To assess the competence of CAAM inspectors when conducting audits of the air operators (IASL and Manta Air), CAMOs, and Part 145 approved organisations.

 

The activity started with the CAAM subjects and issues raised related to SARI Part M and Part 145, Part M and Part 145 Section B compliance checklists were reviewed including the CAAM files of the organisations to be audited by CAAM. Two industry operators were visited, IASL (Island Aviation) for the assessment of CAMO and AMO facilities and Manta Air for the assessment of the compliance status of Part M and Part 145. The activity concluded with a briefing on the outcomes of the visits and the most important areas requiring improvements were discussed in detail.

 

The activity hosted 10 participants of which 8 were CAAM representatives, 1 was a representative from CAA Bangladesh (SARI SQE), and 1 representative from CAA Bhutan (SARI SQE) including 3 SARI team representatives: SARI Director, Mahmood Razee, SARI Coordinator, Mr. Muhammad Zahid Bhatti and SARI Airworthiness expert, Ms. Nadia Konzali.
